Thrilling Escapades: Fields’ Guide to Abduction Book Review

Introduction

Hello Bookworm Buddies, it’s been a while since I wrote a book review. So, I’m reviewing a book named Fields’ Guide to Abduction. I enjoyed this book; it was like watching an action movie in which the daughter of a famous Hollywood actress is abducted and tries to escape.

About Fields’ Guide to Abduction

For Hollywood influencer Poppy Fields, life is almost perfect. She wakes to sip coffee at her beachside bungalow, and lunches with pretty people, and her name is on the list at all the right nightclubs. Also, she shops. Like, a lot.

When Poppy travels to Mexico, with six bulging suitcases in tow, she’s ready for anything—sunbathing by breath-taking infinity pools, gourmet meals at five-star restaurants, glittering parties on patios overlooking the Pacific. Too bad she didn’t pack for a deadly adventure.

But then again, what does one wear for murder?

Or kidnapping?

Or meeting a Chihuahua with the heart of a lion?

Turns out Poppy is more than just a Hollywood golden girl. But with death lurking around every corner, she’ll need smarts, acting skills, and a lot of luck to make it back to Rodeo Drive.

My review

I am reviewing this book by the CAWPILE Rating System. Please visit the CAWPILE Rating System page to learn more about this system. So let’s start Fields’ Guide to Abduction book review.

Character: (10/10)

The characters were well developed. I liked the main character, Poppy Fields, who is the daughter of a well-known Hollywood actress. She is privileged and discusses every prominent brand she possesses, including her beloved Louboutin pumps. Despite this, she matures throughout the book and resolves to be a better person. I also enjoyed Consuela, the 4-pound killing dog. She was Poppy’s best companion, and I think we’ll see her in future books. All of the other characters were excellent as well.

Atmosphere/Setting: (10/10)

The setting for the book was fantastic. Poppy travels to Mexico to attend the resort’s official opening. I enjoyed the depiction of Mexico as well as the resort’s atmosphere. I also enjoyed the backdrop of the drug lord’s residence as it screamed luxury.

Writing style: (9/10)

The book had short sentences, hence the pace of the book was fast and like my name, I was chasing the chapters of this book. The action and adventure were very well-written. I thought I was watching a Hollywood movie.

Plot: (10/10)

To divert herself from the tragic loss of her partner, Jake, Poppy accepts a week as one of the stars at a new Mexican resort. Poppy finds herself in a series of risky scenarios that require the self-defence abilities she learned from her father as a child. Many actions and twists make this an entertaining book you won’t want to put down.

Intrigue: (8/10)

The book was slow initially and I was losing my interest in it, hence the rating, but after that, it kept my interest with the great action and adventures of Poppy. When Poppy arrived in Mexico from that point the storyline was good.

Logic: (9/10)

I wouldn’t say I liked the beginning, but I enjoyed the book overall.

Enjoyment: (10/10)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the action and adventure of the book. And there were funny moments also that I liked a lot.

             Final Rating: 66/70 (9.4)

             Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In conclusion, I like this book and would suggest it to my other bookish friends who enjoy action and adventure-filled books.
