So, without further ado, let’s start!

How I Read Books Tag

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I do not have a specific space for reading, but you can find me reading on the couch most probably.

2. Can you just stop reading, or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain number of pages?

I cannot stop reading randomly, but if my mom calls me for something, then I have to put it away for a bit (P.S. You cannot go against the Home Minister πŸ˜‚). I like to stop after a chapter finishes, as you can guess by my name, Chapter Chaser. πŸ˜‰

3. Bookmark or a random piece of paper?

I have a bookmark that I got for free at a book fair after buying books from there. Sometimes I use that, and if I cannot find it, then I will randomly use any object that is near me, like a TV remote, my handkerchief, or if I cannot find anything, then sometimes I will memorise the page number from where I left. Yeah, but I never dog-ear my books ever. You may find the book as good as new even after I have read it. πŸ˜…

4. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

No, I cannot multitask. I want complete silence while reading. Sometimes, if my dad is watching TV, and I happen to be in the same room, then my attention diverts towards TV and for music I start singing whatever song I am listening so that is not a chance πŸ˜… Even If you talk about instrumental music then also I cannot concentrate on my reading.

5. Do you eat or drink while reading?

No, that’s a big no ❌ for me. I always take care of my books, and if I have to eat or drink something, then I would do that first and then continue to read. I get intrusive thoughts that the drink might just spill all over my book, and my book would be ruined.

6. Reading at home or everywhere?

Reading at home because, as I mentioned above, I want complete silence while reading, and while going out, you cannot shut every person, so yeah, I like reading at home.

7. One book at a time or several at once?

One book at a time because I want to give my full attention to that book. And actually, I haven’t tried reading several at once, so I don’t know if it is possible for me or not.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head because I am reading for fun. I used to read out loud during my school days to memorise things, but now I don’t have to memorise things.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I used to skip smut when reading popular romance books that I got to know about through bookstagram. However, since discovering Closed-door and Clean romances, I no longer skip pages. I mistakenly read the last page of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” and learned who the culprit was 🫣. So, don’t be like me and read the books in page order. πŸ˜‚

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I try to keep books as new as possible. But the majority of my books are second-hand books, so some damage has been done by previous readers, but whenever I buy second-hand books, I try to pick up only the best-condition books.

11. Do you write in your books?

No, I do not write in my books. If I like a quote, then I will simply underline it with a pencil.

12. What do you do first – read or watch?

This the meme for the question of How I Read Books Book Tag

I have not seen many movies based on a book. But you can say I read first because I bought And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie to read first, and then watch the Hindi adaptation of the book, which I haven’t watched till now. πŸ˜…

13. What form do you prefer – audiobook, E-reader, or physical book?

I haven’t tried audiobooks, but I have read both a physical book and an E-book, and I am comfortable with both.

14. Do book series have to match?

Yes, that’s why I buy a box set so that the entire series comes in the same size. Yes, I buy entire series without reading the first book πŸ˜… but I buy the series after researching about it and after watching multiple posts on bookstagram praising the series, so I think that counts. πŸ˜‚

15. When do you find yourself reading? Morning, afternoon, evening, whenever you get the chance, or all the time?

I have a rule that I read first thing in the morning and avoid using the phone, of course, after finishing brushing my teeth.πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ And after that, whenever I get a chance, I will pick up the book and avoid using the phone as much as possible because it is the main reason for my increasing TBR pile. πŸ˜‚

16. Do you have a unique habit when you read?

A unique habit when I read would be to binge-read an entire series. That’s why I buy the entire box set of the series, because one, they come in the same sizes, and two, I can read all at once without waiting for other books in the series to come out.

I tag anyone who wants to do the How I Read Books Tag! I hope you also have fun while doing this tag. 😁
