10 Unread Romance Books for Valentine’s Day in My Collection – Waiting to Be Loved!

Introduction

Happy Valentine’s Day! Since today is Valentine’s Day, I thought to share my list of romance books for Valentine’s Day. But when I checked my book tracker to create a list, I discovered that I have more unread books than books I have read, so why not share the list of books that I am excited to read but haven’t read yet?

I’ve been looking forward to reading these books since I received them, but I haven’t had the chance due to my hectic schedule. I got several of these books via Stuff Your Kindle Day, and as a result, I’ve added a lot of new authors whose work I haven’t yet looked at. So I am excited to read these novels and maybe discover my next favourite.

I. Reasons Behind the Unread Books

A. Lack of Time

romance books for valentine's day.

Photo by Aron Visuals on Unsplash

If bookworms were offered the option of not working and instead reading books all day, our TBR (To Be Read) lists would be massive because, as the phrase goes, “So many books to read, so little time”. We do not have this option and must work or study, making it tough to read all of the books on our TBR list. I’m gradually trying to reduce my TBR (if that’s possible 🥲).

B. Book Haul Excitement

I gathered some of these books from Stuff Your Kindle Day, held on December 27, 2023, by Zeo York, since who doesn’t love free books? When I discovered this, I spent the entire day reading the book descriptions and adding them to my Kindle. And I’m looking forward to the next Stuff Your Kindle Day, where I can add more books to my never-ending TBR (My other unread books are glaring at me now😅). Check out more information regarding Stuff Your Kindle Day.

So let’s start the list of my unread romance books for Valentine’s Day

II. List of Romance Books for Valentine’s Day

1. Opposites Attract by Camilla Isley

First book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

First law of magnetism: opposite poles attract.

Single mom Vivian has been burned by love once before, and her job as a divorce lawyer has presented enough evidence to convince her there are no good men left in New York City.

The worst offender is her new neighbour: Dr. Lucas Keller, a couple’s therapist whose piercing blue eyes and flawless dark hair are just as annoying as his bad temper. And when Lucas starts poaching Vivian’s clients by saving their marriages, she makes it her mission to force him out of the building to save her practice.

But it’s Lucas who gives her the perfect opportunity when he proposes an unexpected bet. With their offices at stake, Vivian and Lucas play the field of love in a fierce battle of wits that quickly turns hot and personal, especially when Vivian’s daughter gets involved. Now, taking down Lucas has become more than business for Vivian. It’s become a pleasure—and soon, Vivian and Lucas will realize how pointless it is to fight the laws of attraction.

Why I added this to my TBR:

I added this book to my TBR because enemies to lovers is my favourite trope. Also, I like romantic comedies so that was a plus point.

Tropes:

  • Enemies to Lovers
  • Forced Proximity
  • Neighbors to Lovers
  • Single-Parent

Content Warnings: None.

2. Loving the Ladies’ Man by Kristin Canary

Second book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Connor is the last guy in the world I should fall for.
He’s the resident office flirt. I’m the quirky Pride & Prejudice-loving editor who uses big words and dresses like the world’s non-sexiest librarian. We have nothing in common. Plus, we’re competitors for the same job.

Fine by me. I’m happy to hold him at arms’ length forever. And considering I’m practically the only woman in the office he’s never flirted with, he’s obviously happy to do the same.

But then, everything changes.
Because when we’re stuck overnight in our office building thanks to an earthquake-induced landslide, I begin to realize that Connor isn’t actually the jerk I thought he was—the kind who leads women on, just like my ex.

And when he offers to attend my ex’s wedding as my fake boyfriend, things get even more interesting. Especially when he gives me that much-too-chaste kiss…

But I can’t fall for him.
That would be repeating the same mistake, just with a different guy. Tell that to my dumb heart, though—the one that seems to think Connor Bryant is my Mr. Darcy.

Why I added this to my TBR:

When I add books to my TBR, I first read the book description, so when I saw this one, I was intrigued and chose to add it to my TBR.

Tropes:

  • Flirtatious Banter
  • Office romances between competitors
  • Charming “bad boys” who are secret cinnamon rolls
  • Quirky bookish heroines
  • Pride & Prejudice references
  • Fake relationships
  • Forced proximity

Content Warnings: Alcohol consumption, Cancer.

3. Smitten with Ravioli by Ellen Jacobson

Third book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Love is on the menu in this sweet romantic comedy set in Italy.

Ginny’s Italian cooking course was supposed to be a peaceful escape from her troubles. But when she meets Preston, an infuriating know-it-all history professor, she quickly realizes her past has come back to haunt her.

The last thing Ginny needs is for Preston to find out who she really is. Her plan seems foolproof – assume a fake identity and keep her distance from the pretentious jerk.

But when they’re forced to work together, Ginny starts to see a different side of Preston. She’s torn between her desire to reveal who she really is and her fear that she’ll lose everything in the process.

Will Ginny be able to trust Preston with her heart, or will love turn out to be the ultimate recipe for disaster?

Why I added this to my TBR:

I just added this book by reading the title😅. I add books to my TBR based only on their titles, covers (yes, I do judge a book by its cover 😂), or descriptions.

Tropes:

  • Workplace Romance

Content Warnings: None.

4. Snowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh Robbins

Fourth book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Uh-oh. I’m in trouble. My new neighbour is the gorgeous guy I shared my first kiss with ten years ago – right before I broke his heart.

If your boss ever asks you to run a bookstore in a charming small town, you have the option of saying heck no.

I wish I’d realized this earlier, but it’s too late for me now. I’ve already arrived in Old Pine Cove, the one place on earth I swore I’d never return to. Thank goodness it’s only for the holidays. Don’t get me wrong, managing a bookstore has been a lifelong dream of mine and I do love Christmas. The problem is Alex Denverton opening the door with that smoldering look of his. I never expected to see him again after breaking his heart, let alone live next door to the guy, yet here I am in this giant Christmas pickle.

Now all I want for Christmas is a second chance with him. Surely that isn’t too much to ask for, is it? Yeah, with my luck, I’m not getting my hopes up.

Why I added this to my TBR:

I added this book because of its setting, because which bookworm’s dream isn’t to run a bookstore?

Tropes:

  • Second Chance Romance
  • Neighbours to Lovers

Content Warnings: Alcohol, Car Accident.

5. Just Magnolia by Olivia Rian

Fifth book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Nothing about me was pretty. I had frizzy brown hair, I was too short, and the left side of my Face leaned so far to the left I could hardly see out of my left eye—like in those old cartoons when the characters are smacked with an anvil. Except mine never bounced back to normal. Yes, my Face, with a capital F, had its own name.

No one would ever confuse Magnolia Holland with a supermodel—though she gets plenty of stares when she’s in public. After years of homeschooling to avoid bullying and ridicule from peers and strangers, Magnolia decides to take the plunge and enrol in Graceland High in hopes of experiencing “normal” teenage life. But, there’s no such thing as “normal” in high school, even with a pretty face.

With her mother and grandmother on her side, Magnolia navigates the minefield of mean girls, drama, and young love. However, risking her heart on a cute boy may not be the hardest thing Magnolia will need to do. Stepping onstage for the whole school to see her face in Graceland High’s fall production of The Rainmaker will test Magnolia’s faith in humanity more than ever—if the experience doesn’t shatter her heart first.

Why I added this to my TBR:

I added this book based on the description to know about the story of Magnolia and her relationship with her mother and grandmother.

Tropes:

  • Unpopular girl meets popular/handsome boy

Content Warnings: Bullying

6. Two Kinds of Us by Sarah Sutton

Sixth book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

In a life of diamond bracelets and country clubs, I’m the perfect daughter. I get all the right grades, volunteer at all the right organizations, and apply to all the right colleges.

And I hate every second of it. At the rate my life is playing out, under the strict rule of my parents, politicians and housewives will be my future.

Until I meet Harry.

Harry’s a singer in a rock band with a voice so beautiful that I actually feel hypnotized. Doesn’t hurt that he’s hot either, and with the kind, flirty personality to match, it’s the perfect trifecta. And even better, he sees the me I want to be. He sees me as the girl who can break free of the life she’s trapped in, who can control her own future.

The only problem? I’m hiding my true identity from him. He knows me as Stella, my fun, carefree alter ego-so drastically different from Destelle, the girl who is trapped in the life her parents rule.

But as we get closer, I realize Harry’s keeping a secret of his own, something related to the dark past that he’s trying to move on from, and when I find out, everything we’ve built could come crashing down.

Why I added this to my TBR:

This book was also added based on its description. Because I want to know how Destelle breaks free of the life she’s trapped in and truly enjoys her life.

Tropes:

  • Hidden Identity
  • Good Girl, Bad Boy

Content Warnings: None.

7. Celebrities Don’t Date Bookworms by Clara Nielsen

Seventh book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Three rules to not end up like me:

Rule #1: If you find out a boyband you hate is starting at your school… transfer out.

Rule #2: If you get accidentally added to a group chat of boys who claim to be that same band… leave immediately.

Rule #3: Most importantly, whatever you do… don’t fall in love with the lead singer of the band.

Why I added this to my TBR:

Again, this book was added based on its title.

Tropes:

  • Famous boy/normal girl
  • Found family
  • Reverse Grumpy and Sunshine
  • Hidden identity
  • Clean romance

Content Warnings: None.

8. Dahlias for Dominica by  Kasey Kennedy

Eight book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

She’s a quiet, free spirit. He’s bossy and by the book. Will a rough renovation help them discover the charms of true love?

Dominica Mendoza hates the thought of disappointing her parents. So the athletic woman dutifully pursues a PE teaching degree while scratching her home improvement itch by fixing up her apartment. And when her too-handsome landlord catches her drenched during a tricky sink repair job, she’s not about to be stopped by his grumpy criticism.

Grady Litwiller refuses to be distracted. Fully focused on his goal to be financially independent and retire early, the twenty-eight-year-old property manager can’t afford to be sidetracked by his gorgeous but feisty tenant. And though Grady is certain that emotional entanglements will just drag him down, her spunky fire is sparking an irresistible attraction.

Will their carefully laid plans lead to a foundation of forever?

I added this book based on its description and the fact that it features multicultural characters, as I enjoy reading about multicultural characters.

Tropes:

  • Multicultural characters
  • Workplace chemistry
  • Fake dating
  • Grumpy/sunshine characters

Content Warnings: None.

9. Divide by  Jessa Russo

Ninth book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

What if Beauty is the Beast?

People who have wronged seventeen-year-old Holland Briggs are getting hurt. And Holland is losing time: large, ominous chunks of time. The gaps in her memory make her doubt her own innocence, but it’s the shifting, unsettled thing she sees in her reflection that has her doubting her humanity.

When handsome and mysterious Mick Stevenson walks into her life, knowing far more about what’s happening to Holland than any stranger should, the missing pieces start to fall into place, and Mick just may be the key—and the cure—to what is happening to her.

Unless Holland and Mick can fix the divide inside her and stop the curse, their worlds will be plunged into chaos and they’ll both die… again.

Why I added this to my TBR:

I am a fan of Disney movies so when I saw that it is a Beauty and the Beast retelling I had to add this book to my TBR.

Tropes:

  • Paranormal/Romance

Content Warnings: Some Swearing

10. Breathe by  Lucinda Race

Tenth book in the list of Romance Books for Valentine's Day.

Her dream come true may be the end of his…

Her family’s successful winery business in the Finger Lakes region of New York should have gone to Tessa Price. She’d always dreamed of running the winery, but her brother, the prodigal son, has returned to claim the corner office. Looking to prove to her family she’s more than capable, she boldly strikes out on her own, purchasing Sand Creek Winery cash-strapped competitor right out from under her family. She can forge her own destiny, using her marketing skills and big plans to bring new life to the small winery. But first, she has a proposition for the sexy previous owner. And he’s likely to hate it almost as much as he hates anyone with the last name of Price.

Kevin “Max” Maxwell would never have willingly sold his winery to anyone named Price. Family always comes first, and if paying for his sister’s cancer treatment costs him his business, it is worth it. But when the new owner offers him a one-year contract to stay on as general manager, with a possible bonus, he’s hit rock bottom but he really can’t afford to turn it down. He can ignore the effect her deep brown eyes and heart-shaped face have on his senses for a year, can’t he?

Relationships, like slowly ripening vineyards, take time. But Max has been keeping a secret from Tessa, one that could destroy their hopes for a future. Will a terrible accident force Tessa and Max to face how much they have to lose or tear apart their budding relationship forever? Sometimes a romance is like a fine wine. To be its best, it just needs time to breathe.

Why I added this to my TBR:

I chose this book based on its description and the vineyard business environment; I enjoy reading about different businesses and how they operate.

Tropes:

  • Enemies to Lovers

Content Warnings: Mention of Cancer

III. Setting Reading Goals for Valentine’s Day

A. Setting Reading Goals for Valentine’s Day

I am single, but it does not prevent me from having a date with my book. So I guess I’ll spend my day reading books (Like I am not doing it every day 😂), which I adore, so doing what you enjoy is a wonderful thing. My reading goal for this year is 50 books, and I’ve only read four so far, so I’d like to get back on track.

B. My personal reading goals and plans for tackling my unread books

My personal reading goal is to at least read one chapter of a book every day. When I’m stuck between a long list of books and don’t know what to read based on my mood. I simply make a list of the titles of the books on my TBR and then search for “random name picker” on Google, then click on the first webpage and paste the list I made before allowing the spinner to select a book for me. Since I’m not a mood reader, this approach works for me. Do let me know in the comments if you want a detailed post on how to use this method.

Conclusion

Happy Valentine’s Day again! I hope everyone’s day goes amazing and have fun. Also, have you read any of the books mentioned in the list above, If yes do share your feedback about the book and what you loved about them. I’d love to hear from you about the books.

Happy reading!
