Introduction
Hello, Bookworm Buddies🙋🏻♀️, Today I read a nice Mystery/Adventure book series starter, The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I loved it. Having seen it all over social media, I finally read the book, and I must say that the hype is real.
It is an appropriately hyped book and is a good start to the series. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves YA mystery with a touch of romantic element, though I might be late because I think everyone has read this book except me. 😂
So, without further ado, let’s start this book review.

My Review
I will be reviewing this book in the CAWPILE rating system. To know more about the CAWPLIE rating system, check out this page.
Characters: (10/10)
This book was a good introduction to the characters we will see throughout the series. I liked every character and got to know their personalities as well. There is a sort of love triangle, and due to reading reviews of others on Instagram, I know that who Avery is going to be with. So I didn’t connect with the romantic scenes of Avery and one of the Hawthorne brothers.
But that was my fault because of reading spoilers ahead, or I might be wrong, who knows 🤷🏻♀️. But this book is all over the internet, so it was difficult for me not to see the spoilers. But overall, I liked all the characters, and not one character was poorly written.
Atmosphere: (10/10)
The atmosphere of the book was also quite nice. And with the way Avery was getting to know her house and the whole makeover and training kind of reminded me of “The Princess Diaries”. And the whole adventure part of finding hidden passages and compartments on the desk was quite thrilling as well. Overall, the whole atmosphere or grandeur of the Hawthorne house was quite good, and I am looking forward to exploring more of the Hawthorne house.
Writing: (10/10)
Writing was good. It was an absolute page turner. Due to the short chapters, I was hooked and able to read more. I like short chapters, and this book had short chapters, which I loved about the book.
Plot: (8/10)
The plot of the book is kind of an introduction to the series, but it also has a mystery to keep you hooked. The last chapters were really good, and I am already excited about the next books. The plot of the book goes like this: Avery inherits the fortune of Tobias Hawthorne, whom she never even met, and now she has to live with the Hawthorne brothers in the house and solve the mystery to know why the fortune was inherited by her.
But as the synopsis suggests, there were not many puzzles and riddles that I thought would be there. Another thing I agree with Jackie from bookishcoffeeblog is that the stakes were too low. If Avery didn’t decide to get the answers about why she inherited the fortune and simply accepted that, then there was nothing to lose for her. Like it was not a matter of life or death.
Intrigue: (10/10)
Because of the short chapters, I was intrigued, and it didn’t leave my attention for a second. It was nice reading this book after a long reading slump.
Logic: (10/10)
The book was cleverly crafted with clues, and the adventure of finding the next clues was like a treasure hunt, and it was perfectly logical.
Enjoyment: (10/10)
I enjoyed this book a lot and am waiting for the next books to arrive, which I immediately ordered after finishing this book.
Final Rating: 68/70 (9.7)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Conclusion
In conclusion, I enjoyed this book and would recommend my bookish friends who love YA mysteries. And I am excited to read the next books in the series. So stay tuned for the review of the next book in this series.
